LOS ANGELES – Menyusul Golden Globes awal bulan ini, Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) akhirnya digelar pada 21 Januari 2018. Bertempat di Los Angeles, California, Amerika, SAG Awards 2018 memberikan penghargaan kepada insan perfilman dan pertelevisian Hollywood.
Seperti halnya Golden Globes tahun ini, SAG Awards 2018 juga didominasi oleh Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Film komedi gelao arahan Martin McDonagh itu total memboyong 3 trofi SAG Awards, yakni untuk Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, dan Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
Gary Oldman ditetapkan sebagai peraih Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Sedangkan aktor senior Morgan Freeman didapuk sebagai penerima Life Achievement Award.
Dari pertelevisian, Big Little Lies dan This Is Us sama-sama berbagi dua trofi. Big Little Lies menang Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series dan Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series. Sedangkan This Is Us menjadi yang terbaik untuk kategori Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series dan Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.
Sterling K. Brown mencatatkan sejarah dalam industri pertelevisian di SAG Awards. Bintang This is Us itu menjadi aktor Afrika-Amerika pertama yang meraih trofi Best Male Actor in Drama Series.
